Description: It all started one afternoon when I heard Maggie barking. She had that playful bark so I figured she was picking on the giant toad that frequented the deck. I went outside to check it out and Maggie came running out from underneath the deck. I looked under the deck and saw Leo. I figured he was picking on her but I thought I’d better see what he was looking at. I went around to the other side of the deck where I could see Leo, figuring he was playing with the giant toad. I wish-instead he was playing with a SNAKE! He was pawing at it and biting it and the snake just sat there. I went over to get the hose thinking I would scare it with water. When I came back the snake was gone. Leo saw it right away-it slithered it way next to the water faucet. I was amazed at how big it was. Once again, Leo started pawing at it and playing with it. I worked up enough courage to grab the snake with some long tongs and threw it over the fence. I was screaming the entire time. Meanwhile, Natalie was in the house watching-she didn’t even want the slider opened a crack. She grabbed the door and frantically yelled, “Shut the door!”
The snake was about 18 inches long-huge in my opinion!! It was such a funny incident-one that I will always remember and laugh about when I remember it. ~September 2007
