How can a small pocket knife hold so much fascination? And so it was with you from a young toddler’s age. You’ve always wanted to get your little hands on it. But, it wasn’t until the Summer of 2002, that Grandfather felt you were old enough and responsible enough to learn to use it. And so you sat under Grammy’s tree, completely focused and utterly content, whittling the afternoon away. As I stood watching, my heart skipped a beat realizing that you are no longer that little boy. That this small gesture symbolized one more step towards manhood and I found myself wishing I could stop time, if even for a moment.
