Ok, so obviously Mommy & Daddy named Slash wrong because he’s become your shadow. The sight of Slash, Duff & Axl (or practically any other animal) makes you squeal with delight & try to reach them. It’s actually pretty comical to watch.
But, in any case, for the most part you & Slash have become pals. He’ll lay or wander as close to you as he dares until he’s sure we won’t yell at him, and then deal with whatever ‘petting’ you decide to dole out. Most often it’s more of a grab and yank than a rub, but hey, it's attention of some sort, right? At least, that’s the attitude Slash seems to take.
Duff is a little too skittish to let you that close to her, and Axl’s more likely to lick your face than let you pet him.. So it’s left to Slash, your shadow, to teach you the right way to care for a pet. I’m sure as you become more mobile you’ll start chasing him, and maybe then he’ll decide to stay away a little more often!
