Description:This is as simple as they get! :)
Just some rambling thoughts/journaling about a little saying that Ryan and I have for Alyssa. It's very long, kinda jumbl-y, and probably makes no sense...lol...But oh well, it's what was on my mind!
Ryan and I started saying these four words whenever Alyssa would do something cute or something that made us laugh. Now these words are said on a regular basis. Another "Porter Family Saying" that has caught on. I find myself saying "I love that kid" all day long. When I walk into Ryan's and my room and find Alyssa tucked in with the covers up to her neck, and one of my books open in her hands. She tries so hard not to laugh when she knows that I'm there in the doorway, just watching her pretend. I say it under my breath..."Boy, I really love that kid". Or when I come into the living room, and she has crawled into the laundry basket and has parked it in front of the tv, with a pillow tucked up under her head, and she is just curled all up in it watching cartoons. What gets Ryan and I both is when we are in the car, and we hear 'pretend snoring' coming from the back seat. We look back there, and Alyssa has her eyes closed up so tight, and the silliest little grin, and she's just snoring up a storm. We both look at each other, delight written all over our faces and say, "Man, I love that kid". Our car ride isn't complete until that little scene has been played out! She melts my heart on a daily basis! When I'm not in the best of moods, and I sit down to catch a breath and regroup, Alyssa always picks up on that. She'll come over, and climb in my lap right away. She'll take a hand, and just rub it on my arm, or on my cheek, and then reach up to give me a kiss. As I choke back tears of love and happiness, I think to myself, "Thank you Lord...I really love that kid". I feel so blessed beyond measure to have her in my life. There are times where I happen to be out of the house by myself (although this isn't very often!) and I'll call to say hello. Ryan puts Alyssa on the phone, and she just starts up a conversation like she knows exactly what she's talking about. When our talk starts to wind down, she'll say "laa-ee, bye" wihtout me even saying "I love you" forst. When I don't have to prompt her and she just comes out with affection, it warms me all teh way to my toes! I just have to grin and say "I lvoe that kid"! There are time when we are just sitting in the lving room, and Alyssa will suddenly come up to me, hold her arms up, and asked to rocked. I know that she isn't always going to welcome such open affection from me, so I scoop her up and right over to the recliner we go. As I sit ther with my baby in my arms, feeling her heart beat against my chest, smelling the cereal and milk still left in her hair from breakfast all I can think is "I sure do love that kid". At night (when Ryan is at home) it is our ritual for Daddy to tuck Alyssa into bed. So, Alyssa runs into my arms for my nitie nite kisses. I usually have to ask for a kiss, but when I don't and she kisses me all over, she just makes my whole night! I watch them go up the stairs and I get overwhelmed by emotion as she lays her head on her daddy's shoulder. I really love that kid.
