Description:A look back at 2008. For COW #52: a recap of the events that occurred in our lives during the past year-2011 must be in your title, photo collage (5 or more pictures,)some journaling, your choice of embellishments. Journalling is hidden behind the photo collage on a slider card and reads:
As a scrapbooker, I prefer to work in order. Unfortunately, I’m just not fast enough to keep up with all of the pictures that I take. That leaves me about three years behind on my scrapbooks at any given time. I’m currently writing this from Christmas Break 2011, but the pictures I am scrapping are from Christmas Break 2008.
That’s not always a bad thing. From 2011, I have the perspective to look back and reflect on the past while also comparing it to the present! For example, in January of 2008, Kairi had just finished her 6th grade Medieval project to earn her second high honor roll ribbon of middle school. I never would have believed it, but here in December of 2011, Nick is working on his Medieval project – and wonder of wonders, is also on track for a second high honor roll ribbon! In 2008, we worried that Nick hated school, and thought every day of middle school would be a battle. Guess we were wrong!
The spring of 2008 brought many changes. Cyndy, Barry, Faith, and Juli moved to our area. What followed was a whirlwind of social activity – we now did nearly everything as a group of eight instead of four. Dorney Park outings, game nights, dinners, football on TV, the zoo, the park – everything became an adventure. By 2011, I can’t remember a time when we didn’t have family just twenty minutes away.
Summer of 2008 brought a long awaited honeymoon for Scott and I. Our pledge to fly everywhere on vacation from then on didn’t hold up – we haven’t gotten on a plane since! But we have taken several more weekend trips, just the two of us.
In the fall, 2008 gave us our first taste of the busy schedule that was soon to be our normal. While Nick only played football for one season, soon both kids would be involved in marching band. Fall would never be quite the same again.
2008 was also a year of lasts. At the time, I didn’t know it, but our first Christmas with the Camfields would also be the last. In 2008, our future family get-togethers seemed assured – we were even planning an epic trip to Disney with our whole extended family. Unfortunately, before another year passed, Cyndy and Barry would separate, and eventually divorce. However, Christmas of 2008 had a positive last, too! It was the last Christmas that Scott and I would be obese! Looking back at that family portrait, I am thrilled to report that in 2009 we lost nearly 200 lbs. together!
Holy COW 52 Jenn - great journalling. Perfect pick of pix for the collage and I love the b & w photos with a coloured family portrait.
2008 was indeed a great year (even if it took you until 2011 to tell us about it - LOL)
