Description:This is for the BC Challenge. You had to use less then perfect photos on it, at least 2 pieces of pp and some ribbon. As you can see, these photos are TERRIBLE!! But they were taken in 2003 way before I scrapbooked. This is not my favorite layout, by far, but I wanted to scrap the story behind the photos. Thanks for looking!!
When I learned I was having a girl, I couldn't wait to decorate your room. I wanted to make it special-not really babyish but give it room to grow with you. I had grand ideas that it would be completed by the time you were born but that was not to be. Daddy painted it but I wasn't able to decorate anything until after you were born. Being on bed rest will do that to you!!!
The first thing I bought was the crib set from Pottery Barn Kids. I was then able to center all the colors around the bedding. I knew when I found the hanging butterfulies that I had to do a butterfly theme. Butterflies reminded me of my mother, your Grandmother Mary Ann, someone who you will never meet. I thought that having a piece of her in your room to watch over you would make you safe. It took a day to rubber stamp butterflies randomly throughout your room. We then added pieces of furniture, like a table and chairs, toy holder, as well as a bookcase, to it as you got older.
I couldn't be happier for the way it turned out. Your room was your haven. You played with all your toys and read your books by yourself. It was a relaxing and welcoming place, though it was a mess most of the time. Soon you would outgrow it and have to be moved. For a while it was the perfect size for you.
I wish these photos did it justice but it doesn't. When they were taken, I was not a scrap booker. I had no clue how to get a decent photo from the camera I owned at the time. I should have at least cleaned up your room before I shot them!! Just know your room was a labor of love, a gift from me to you.
I love how even with the pictures that you say don't give the room its due, your journaling outshines them and tells the real story. This is what scrapbooking is about. What a great job on the challenge!
