Description: This place is above Ephesus on the Mountain - it's said that this is the last home of the Virgin Mary. The belief is that when Jesus was on the cross his gave his mother Mary into the care of John - the apostles split to different areas of the world to preach, John's area was the coast of Turkey - where it's believed he brought Mary and settled her into a home on the mountain. They believe this because of the number of different things - one, there's a small church in Ephesus called the "Church of Mary" - a church was never named after anyone unless they lived in the area. There's also the ruins of a church not far away that has was is believed to be the tomb of St. John. A blind nun, who had never been out of her small town (I think in Germany) had dreams of the location of the house - years later two intrepid explorers took her written account and followed it to the top side of the mountain where they found he ruins of a house. The Catholic church subsequently agreed. Nuns moved into the location near and they've built a house, using the base of the ruins and the stones around it. They consider the water coming from the mountain to be holy water.
