Description:This is a picture of my son looking for an Easter egg. Journaling reads, " When I first saw this picture I could not help but smile. To me, it sums up the yearly Easter egg hunt held at my In-laws house. You just never know where you'll find an egg! My In-laws started doing the egg hunt when the first two grandchildren were little. The oldest grandchild is now 19 and the youngest is 3 but all are equally as excited to participate. Seeing the things that they get at the hunt makes me wish that I could participate also. Sadly, it is just for the six grandchildren and not the adults. Darn! The goodies they get are not just all sweet treats either. They get some fun stuff! When I first came into this family 17 years ago, I thought this egg hunt was insane! I called it the "Mini Christmas". It's totally over the top but my In-laws enjoy doing it for the kids. And with all our busy schedules, It's one of the few days all our families can get together. The colorful plastic eggs that are hidden always contain a clue as to where some Easter goodies can be found. The Dads all go outside and hide the eggs while the Moms occupy the kids inside. When the Dads are done hiding the eggs the Moms hide the goodies that they'll find. The fun part starts when the kids are outside trying to find their eggs. The younger kids get theirs hidden in easy spots that they can find without much help. The older kids however, don't have it so easy. Their eggs have been known to be found in places such as mailboxes, in the rain gutters on the house, in the wheels of a car, way up in trees and bushes (hence the photo), and this year one was hidden in my Brother-in-laws shoe.......while he was still wearing it! It's pretty comical to watch them search for their eggs. In the end though, everyone always finds all their eggs and a great time is had by all.
