Description: Mom had lived in Chicago so for us, even though we weren’t really residents, it felt like home. She knew the neighborhoods, restaurants and parks of the city and she shared it with us on our many weekend visits. It became our city where we knew every inch of its ballparks, where we felt free to stroll its street and where I photographed it as my own city. It’s different now. Twenty years later I am a visitor – a tourist. I take my children there and we enjoy the city – the museums and its famous streets. But it is no longer familiar and it is no longer my city.
