Journaling about why I scrapbook.
Journaling:
It's January 9, 2003 and Jenny poses for the camera. Jenny never minds posing. Photo Shoots happen often in our house. My children have grown use to the fact of life that they will get lots and lots of pictures taken. I have found that on the whole they don't mind. In fact, they will often ask to have a picture taken of them. Why? My guess is that they don't mind because they want to appear in the family scrapbooks. They want to have their pictures made beautiful with scrapbook artistry. They love looking through the scrapbooks. They love seeing themselves and remembering the clothes, the events, the beauty and the changes in themselves.
Memories.
Two scrapbook memories come alive for me. Last July they visited Great Grandma in Pennsylvania. They had not seen her since Jenny was two months old and they had a great time with Great Grandma at her house and at her birthday party. When I created scrapbook pages about the trip, they suddenly remembered lots of things about the trip and the warm feeling of being with Great Grandma and being at her house. Without the scrapbook, I doubt they would have remembered much. Great Grandma hurt herself recently and may never be able to go back to that house, but Jackie and Jenny have these memories in their heads and written down so they can remember.
Forever.
Another day I was scrapping our trip to Legoland. Jenny told me, "I don't remember going to Legoland." She looked at the pictures of all the places and rides. "I want to go to Legoland again," she said. I asked her, "Why? You don?t remember going there. It must not have been very fun." Jenny smiled, looked at the pictures and said, "I want to go to Legoland again." Hey, maybe she doesn't remember going to Legoland, but she can see in the pictures something fun and loving about the trip. She wants to revive what she sees in those photographs and layout. It certainly was fun the first time so we much go a second time! She can sense something wonderful in the layout.
Love.
Nice LO and beautiful picture. My husband can't understand why I take so many pictures, but when he looks at my scrapbook, I know he understands. My father took hundreds of pictures of us too. I guess I come by it naturally.
Keep up the good work.
Sweet picture! Your lo is great and it's wonderful that you journaled these thoughts! I agree that scrapbooks are very meaningful to children and as they grow!
Your journaling is really great...and you are so right...the pictures sometimes tell us more than our memories can recall. Your children are lucky to have you to document their lives. That is a sweet picture of your daughter.
take care,
Dawn
