A Thing of Beauty is?
One day Jackie and Jenny decided to play ?beauty parlor.? Jackie took the role of beautician and Jenny pretended to be the customer. Jackie welcomed Jenny and sat her down in the beauty parlor chair. Jackie got her supplies, which included a spray water bottle, combs, mirror, hair clips, ribbons, a pretend curling iron, a pretend blow dryer and headbands. Another necessary supply was a smock. Jackie took a purple cape and draped it in front of Jenny.
Jackie drenched Jenny?s hair with water from the spray bottle. Then, she combed and styled her hair. I?m not Jenny had fun getting her hair combed by Jackie, but they had fun pretending.
They may have been playing beauty parlor, but the beauty really wasn?t in what they were doing. It was in how they were doing it. They thought of a game entirely on their own, found roles for each of them to play and pretended to act together. I find it beautiful to watch them together. They make up all sorts of events and things to act out together. It is always fun to watch them working together, laughing and building a lifetime friendship.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing
Your journaling is wonderful. I get sad sometimes that my children aren't close in age to do things like this. The mirrors that you added are wonderful. This is such a sweet page. The photos are great. Oh, the price of beauty!
take care,
Dawn
