Journaling: One of the special events for our day at Seaworld was a Behind-The-Scenes tour of Seaworld. We had a small group (4 others with us) and a nice tour guide.
We saw several kinds of birds, but the big event was going to a working area behind the Shark Encounter exhibit. In the back, we saw a rare kind of shark, some shark eggs in a cases and some baby sharks.
These White Spotted Bamboo sharks were about 2 feet long. The tour guide told us over and over again that these sharks DON?T BITE. She worked very hard to reassure our trepid children. She instructed everyone to use two fingers to pet the shark gently forward, then backwards. She joked, ?Just use two fingers so you have three left.? No one wanted to pet the shark but Mike went ahead and was the first one to do it. Others from our group followed but the kids still hesitated.
Mike helped guide Jenny?s hand in the tank. As she was petting one shark another shark jumped at Jenny?s finger and bit her. Jenny pulled her finger out and the shark held on. We could see the shark attached to Jenny?s finger. It held on for one a few seconds, but it seemed much longer to us!
Jenny cried and Mike toke her away. The guide rushed over to help. They washed her hand and looked at it. The shark had not broken the skin or left any marks. It took a while but within 10 minutes she was saying her fingers didn?t hurt anymore. The tour guide apologized over and over again. ?This has never happened,? she said. ?I?m telling the people back here that they have a shark that bites. I?m telling everyone. You?re going to be famous.? Later that evening at dinner Jenny would get sad when we talked about the shark bite, but by bedtime she was happy to talk about her adventure. Now, she happily tells anyone with great excitement.
YOu are a wonderful story teller :) I love the pictures. The paper and the colors look great. I like the torn and layered border. Great job.
take care,
Dawn
Your journaling is wonderful! Poor thing! I bet that was scary! The colors you used are beautiful together and I think the bottom photo of her Daddy holding her is precious. Thanks for sharing.
