Journaling: We had a nice family trip to San Diego. We visited SeaWorld. We had two big adventures.
We entered the arena for the Dolphin Show about 20 minutes early because we wanted to get a good seat. It wasn’t very crowded so we had a good pick of seats. Almost immediately one of the Sea World employees approached us in a friendly manner. She asked the age of our daughters.
I told her they were 3 and 7. She decided Jenny was too young but asked if Jackie would like to be a part of the show with her Dad. She would get to touch one of the dolphins. Jackie, a little shy, still smiled and nodded her head. It was decided that at the beginning of the show, Mike and Jackie would go down to a bench on the stage and be in the show. Jenny realized that she wasn’t going to be in the show too and got very sad, even crying a little bit. We felt pretty sorry for her but didn’t think we should pass up the opportunity for Jackie. When the show began Mike and Jackie disappeared. A few minutes into the show they appeared on the stage sitting on a bench. There was a girl on the bench with them and a man with a microphone. The man introduced them as the Gormish family from Redwood City, CA. The woman said she was Jackie’s mom Rachael. Then he asked Jackie and Mike for their names. They made the woman appear to be Jackie’s mother. This surprised me a little but I figured they just got someone else from the audience to make a nice looking family. (On stage, Mike was surprised to hear Rachael introduced this way since he had been introduced to her as one of the dolphin trainers.)
Mike got to be a trainer. A pilot whale was brought up close. Mike was asked to turn around and the whale imitated him in the water by turning. Mike was also asked to wave two fingers up and down and the dolphin sang to its newest musical conductor.
Jackie put on rubber boats and get even closer to the dolphins. They told her to put her hands over her head and dive into the pool. She looked at him queerly and didn’t do it. They asked again and she still didn’t do it. What a wise child! They asked a third time and she still didn’t do it! (Mike said they were holding the back of her shirt to make sure she didn’t dive in!) Next, they told her to raise her fingers up and down. The dolphin spun around. Then the dolphin came up on the platform and Jackie touched the top of its head. It made a noise. Then she felt its fin. They asked her what the dolphin felt like. She said, “A hot dog.” Jackie felt a little scared but it was fun. Shortly afterwards the “mother” Rachael fell into the water. One of the dolphins came and got her out of the water by pushing her with his snoot. She was then introduced as a SeaWorld trainer.
Great story!!!! The photos are wonderful. I love the BLUE. It is gorgeous. I really like the dolphin with the tag in your title. I love the way you used the tags throughout this layout. Excellent job!!!
take care,
Dawn
Denise----this is GREAT!!!! Wonderful photos and great job getting all of them and the story onto your layout! And what a cool story too! How cool that your DD got to "help". Our DD, Ashlee, got to participate in Dolphin Quest while we were in Hawaii 1 1/2 years ago and she still talks about it!
This is so great! I love that it has a lot of journaling, and the embellishments really make the LO pop. Great title, too!
