I was cooking dinner and could hear Zoe playing with the phone in the lounge. She was having imaginary phone conversations with Charlotte, or so I thought.
I could hear her asking for Charlotte, chattering away and then hanging up, only to start the whole process over again.
She must have done this about 6 times when Andrew came home and said “Did you know Zoe is ringing Charlotte?”
“She’s only pretending” I answered.
“Are you sure?” asked Andrew. “It seems pretty real to me.”
“She doesn’t even know the number and I haven’t dialled for her” said I, concentrating on mashing the potatoes.
Andrew called “Zoe, what’s Charlotte’s number?”
With that Zoe promptly answered “ “
Later that night I discovered upon talking to Belinda that Zoe had repeatedly rung their house and asked for Charlotte while they were eating dinner.
At three and a half she had memorised the number after hearing me repeat it numerous times to Madeline when the latter wanted to call Will. Our daughter is a nuisance caller!
