Description:for a contest on another site--lyrics "the good Lord gives us mountains so we can learn how to climb" are from a Lonestar song. Journaling: This is me. Father's Day, 1996. 10,200 ft, atop Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone National Park. During that summer, I was probably the most carefree I've ever allowed myself to be. I was really on my own for the first time--learning about life and taking care of myself.
I'm not a hiker, so climbing Mt. Washburn didn't come easy. Brian and I hated the walking so much that we slid down most of the way, using the slick snow as our transportation. But climbing that mountain would be nothing compared to the challenges we would face in the coming years. I freely admit I have down times. Being angry, sad, jealous, and confused about my lot in life. But my heart knows that the "mountains" we have faced have made us stronger in spite of ourselves. The tough times have proved us resilient, and with God's help, we have SURVIVED. And we will continue to persevere-enjoying life as it comes. 9/2007
Your journaling, as usual, is simply stunning! Your an inspiration of what it means to learn how to climb those mountains. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.
