Bending the Rules
But now it was Amanda's turn to be disappointed. As we had read on the website, the driving school was for children ages 6-13. The JUNIOR driving school was for ages 3-5. Amanda was 5-1/2, so technically she was supposed to go to the JUNIOR driving school. But when she saw it, she started to cry. "It's for BABIES", she exclaimed. Because the junior driving school was just a circular track, with no intersections, no signs, no traffic lights. "The big kids' driving school is SO much COOLER!!!"
SO...don't tell anyone...we gave Amanda her first lesson in "bending the rules". After all she was ALMOST 6. And she certainly LOOKED big enough to be 6. We told her to get on line with Ryan, and gave her strict instructions - "if anyone asks you how old you are, you're SIX."
We weren't sure they'd be able to pull it off, cause they're not very good liars. (That's usually a good thing, but at this point it was making us a little nervous.) Well, it worked. WHEW!! Disaster averted again.
We probably spent about the next hour and a half at the driving school. Every time they got off the ride, they got right back on the line again. They each collected about 6 or 7 driver's licenses.
This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
