Description:Seashell came to us in a most unusual way. My dd (12) and I were at the vets to buy meat for our Bearded Collie when the vet pulled us aside to tell us of a feral cat who had been brought in dying. Brian operated and managed to save the kittens. He knew us and was sure we could raise one from birth, however I had just separated from my husband, had 3 children still at home plus a large dog, a male cat and 2 budges and fish. My dd and I were walking out of the vets when in walked my ds (16) and 3 of his mates - well talk about soppiness and sookiness! I had no choice and Seashell joined our family. Despite being hand reared, mainly by Gwenni, she was not a loving cat and preferred her own company.
When she was 8 we moved in with Fred after losing both Snug and Bo within a week from old age.
He was not a cat person and preferred to work on his own.
She, skittish and easily frightened by noise and sudden movements, was not a cat who liked or rarely sought human company.
Suddenly thrown together by circumstance they formed a bond with comfortable silences interspersed with conversation that went on for many minutes. With him she was not frightened of contact or of loud machinery.
My occasional visits to the shed were not welcomed by her and her body language says it all. I love her more for it.
