Description:I’m taking advantage of these moments – when you take time out of your busy little schedule to cuddle me. Time when I can bury my face in your neck and inhale your no longer a baby, not quite a toddler boy smell. When I can stroke the back of your soft hair and press your chubby little cheek against mine. I close my eyes and breathe deeply, wanting everything to stop, if only for a second.
For these moments are fleeting now, you wriggle and squirm to get down, there are places to explore, things to be played with. So many things to do, so many things to see.
I would love to hold you close all day and keep you forever as my sweet baby but life moves on and you are more independent, day by day. Watching you grow and learn fills my heart with joy and pride. I marvel over how quickly you change and how everything is an exciting new thrill.
But still I crave these moments, so for now, I’ll savor them - the sloppy kisses and the loving arms heavy around my neck. The unspoken love between a mother and her little son. And maybe, just maybe, for a minute more, I can keep you safe and close, my sweet baby boy. Sept 3, 2006 Morgan 11.5 months
