I had this grand plan – I’d gone over it a million times in
the days leading up to us going to Hawaii. Daddy was
sick of me constantly mapping out what was going to
happen!
We had to be up at 4am and I had it all figured out. I
would put you in a sleeper under your baby sleeping
bag. Then when I had to go get you, I would sloooowly
ease you out of the sleeping back and quietly get you in
your car seat.
The plan was working perfectly. I got you out of your
sleeping bag in the dark and you continue to sleep on my
shoulder as I got you to the garage (where Daddy was
waiting in the dark!). Eased you into your car seat – still out
like a light. Perfect.
Until I had to get into the car. When I opened my car door,
the light went on and bing!, you were wide awake. Missed
that little detail in my plan!
Fine, no problem I thought. I thought for sure you’d fall back
asleep on the ride to the airport.
What was I thinking? There was too many things to do! You
had to scratch your nails over the luggage beside you and
play with the strap. Look at the street lights (you’re always in
bed before those come on!). Babble and giggle to yourself.
Got to the airport and you were in fine form. I was tired
already but you, you were quite pleased to be up and all
the people around you were quite entertaining. We met up
with everyone before boarding the plan and Bailey and Riley
were raring to go as well.
It ended up being a very long day. Beside the 6 hour flight and
3 plane changes, we had a delay with the rental car and you
didn’t get to eat dinner until very late. You were exhausted due
to only sleeping a total of an hour and a half the whole day but
handled it like a trooper.
Your first vacation – and here I was thinking you might sleep
through some of it. Yeah right!!!
