Paw Paw's Thanksgiving Day Poem
Thanksgiving Day is coming,
So Mister Turkey said,
I must be very careful,
Or I shall lose my head.
The pumpkin heard the turkey,
It frightened him, "Oh my",
They'll mix me up with sugar and spice,
And I'll be a pumpkin pie.
For as long as I can remember my grandfather Alexander (Paw Paw) would recite this poem as we were waiting for all the food to finish cooking. I have such fond memories of him teaching this to my brothers and I and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my Grandmother.
