I pull in the svg files then convert them for the cameo. When you save your project it will save as a Silhouette file. Then I delete the svg. Hope that makes sense..

Makes total sense, thank you! And just what I wanted to hear, too. I didn't want to have to hang onto a bunch of extra files

Thanks I'm still wavering on whether or not I made the right choice between the cameo/explore. Knowing me I'll end up with them both by this time next year.

It takes a bit of a learning curve - but so worth it!! I'm involved in a scrapbooking project for work. I make "sample" books and let folks choose which pages they want. Then I make "kits" for them to use. When I cut the kits I cut enough for 3 or 4 - This was all done on the Cameo - some are paper piecings cut from cardstock and others I did using the Print and Cut feature.

I love that I can import any sort of jpg and convert it in the Cameo program. On this one I imported our company logo and make a layout for our 20th Anniversary celebration

One of the guys loves wrestling so this one is a combination of a downloaded file from the Silhouette on line store and download jpgs from the internet

Another person wanted "something" San Francisco - I downloaded the Golden Gate Bridge file from the Silhouette on line store -

I still use my Cricut sometimes - I have too many cartridges to just toss it. But, I love the Cameo. Hang in there.

Those are great and I bet they love them. My mind is running away with all the stuff we can make with our preschool kids when we start back up

just wanted to know if it's very loud? I'm still debating between cameo or explore, not sure if I'm tech savvy enough.

jas, you can download the Silhouette Studio software for free from Silhouette America, and play with it. You don't need the machine for that. If you can suss out the software, learn how to import JPGs and trace them, and create cutting files from the fonts installed on your computer, you are savvy enough to use the Cameo.

I'm not gonna lie... It's pretty loud although I have to admit it got a little quieter after I realized the blade wasn't locked

Close the lid when you're cutting, and place it on a towel. See if that helps?

I remembered to close the lid... Didn't help much. Bit mine is sitting on a plastic folding table so that could be amplifying the sound I'll try the towel to see if that helps me

I hope the towel works to reduce the sound of the machine.
