And guess what I brought back with me? Shingles. Huh. It's not serious or bad, and I'm not in pain. I just have this lovely little patch of blisters right over my old chickenpox scars on my waist, I'm exhausted for no good reason, and have no appetite.

I also feel contaminated. That's stupid because I'm not infectious or anything, but... you know. It's a virus, isn't it?

Oh and the funeral went beautifully. All planned long in advance by my Dad's cousin herself. She knew that the family would be a bit useless at arranging anything so she listed everything she wanted in meticulous detail. I love that! She was the lynch pin of that branch of the family - kept us all together and in touch, threw all the big birthday and anniversary celebrations, wrote lovely Christmas letters to us all. I don't know what will happen now - her offspring are all academic and very intelligent, but no use whatsoever at practical stuff. She was unique.

Oh no Rosey!! Not shingles!! And I know what you are going through! I'm guessing it's just a mild case of it, but nonetheless, still aggravating to have.

Just wanted to add that stress could be part of the reason for your shingles...

I agree. DH was told the stress he was under was a major significance in him getting his last fall.

Oh poor you Rosey....

Just an FYI, you are contagious to those who have not had the chicken pox. That's why I worry about Cassidy getting them when I hear of people she's been around that have shingles. I tell them stay away.

I'm sorry you are dealing with shingles, not fun. It sounds like it was a really nice service. How wonderful that she made the arrangements.

Yes, I'm keeping away from everybody. We weren't really sure whether it was insect bites until the day after the funeral, but I'm pretty sure now. I don't have to see anybody until tomorrow night at choir practice. Other choir members have had shingles and still gone to practice, so I guess everybody is immune.

The performance is on Friday night. I don't have to mix with anybody afterwards though. Hmm. I need to look up how it is spread. I know that chicken pox begins with cold-like symptoms and that's how it is spread, but I've had nothing like that. I need to check...

My Dr. always told me I'm contagious if it's in an open area. As long as your clothing is covering it, I don't think you are exposing anyone. Or so my Dr. has told me.

Yikes and unfun! How long do they last topically? Greg's mom has a horrible bout of them when Greg got married to his first wife.

I'm glad the funeral went well. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone, you're all so sweet. After a week it's starting to get better now, although it's more painful. What a strange virus it is.

Thank you! I'm actually fine now unless I hit the rash, then it hurts. I've been extremely lucky.
