My first problem is that I don't have a computer In my scrap room. I have a nice photo printer that I use to print my photos and sometimes journaling. I ordered a new computer but now the order is delayed. the printer is too big to move to the room where the boys do their homework and the family would get upset if I moved one of those computers.

I anticipated this problem before I retired and printed some photos, but my process includes printing while I envision the layout, not starting with printed photos.

In addition to that, I am out of black and white cardstock. Both. I use a lot of cardstock, usually as my layout base. I should have bought some when I was at the store the other day, but I'm a cardstock snob and I didn't like the brands there

I'm the class mom and am planning to make a scrapbook for the teacher as a gift from the whole class. I have some photos printed for that, but I really need the black or white cardstock for that.

The other photos I printed are Thailand and Paris. Both good subjects, but Paris is a mini-album which is different than regular scrapping and I don't always feel like working on it. So, I am working on Thailand photos, but I usually do 2-page layouts for vacation photos like that, which I enjoy doing, but I like to mix it up with other types of pages.

Anyway, now that I have more time to scrap, I am frustrated. Hopefully my computer and cardstock will arrive soon.

Any ridiculous typos in this post courtesy of iPad autocorrect, which I will continue to use until the computer arrives.

I know how that goes, Louise. I think we all have these kind of days!!

My daughter took up my computer most of the day IN my craft room to complete a project that she should have worked on before today. It is due tomorrow. I did all my "must haves" so I could have the afternoon free and she ruined it for me. So I am being a baby right now. (Actually trying not to be)

I got one of those keyboard cases for my iPad and I have to say it's really changed how I use it. It works a lot more like a PC now, so much so that I find myself using it instead. This is the one I got, on black Friday sale for $25, and I really like it:

How frustrating.

My problem is that my photos are on my laptop which ought to work wirelessly in the study where the printer it, but it doesn't. So I have the laptop in the lounge and I'm running between the study and the lounge to print stuff off. Annoying, especially when the printer spits the photo paper out of the rear feed if it doesn't receive the request to print within about 30 seconds...

Is the computer delayed by the storms?

I nines you ladies would understand. I don't think the computing s delayed by storms, just by HP, no reason given. It hasn't shipped yet.

My photos are on a memory stick or my phone, so I still can't print the from the iPad. My photo printer is not wireless, so I can't access it from the downstairs computers. That delay problem is odd Rosey, none our printers ever had a problem like that.

It's not exactly a delay. You put the paper in the rear feed and it pulls it in and works out the weight and size and goodness knows what else. Then it sits and waits to be told what to print. But if you're still running back to the other side of the house, then working out how to tell PSE to print to the rear paper feed instead of the default one with the paper in (that you've forgotten to eject) within 30 seconds, it gets bored and spits the paper out again.

I think it's an Epson "feature". Along with the borderless "feature" that automatically zooms in on your photo and cuts off the bottom and right-most edges of your carefully cropped photo.

Does your printer have an SD slot that you could print from? Ours does.

ETA: what printer have you got?

I have an Epson R1900, which is a big huge photo printer. It does a wonderful job and can print poster size photos, a feature I rarely use. I don't think it has an SD slot, I would have to pick it up and look at the back, but I don't think it does. It doesn't have a little screen, so I'm not sure how I could select a photo or any options without a computer.

I print my photos in all different sizes. I could get photos at any of many local stores, but I don't like having all 4x6's. I like my sizes the way I want them.

It's got Pictbridge - is that any use to you? It uses USB direct to your camera. I've never played with it so I don't know if it can do anything complicated though.

I just had a very brief google and definitely some Epson printers with PictBridge are able to print to larger sizes than 6x4". It's worth a try, anyway.

I don't have the right paper for the layout I want to do. I need orange. Not any of the 15 different oranges that I have but ORANGE Orange that matches Andrew's baseball uniform.

When Zachary played for an orange soccer team, I used green paper. Orange and red are very tough colors to match.

Finally found something on the backside of a patterned paper. My next challenge is turquoise. I mean, sheesh, how many shades of turquoise can there possibly be! ! This layout may end up being on black and white - - -

Yup, orange is a horrible colour to match, and so is red. Wait till you have to find "faded red" paint for that one panel on your car that needs respraying. Ask me how I know!

I use the RGB codes to print my own colored cardstock if I just need a little. If anyone wants directions PM me, I wrote an article about it awhile back. It's really easy.

Just found out that the new computer shipped, it's not in the system yet for tracking, but hopefully before the weekend.
