Let's talk about this storm. Anyone freaking out? Has it come to you yet? If not when is it expected?

No, I never freak out over a storm. I usually enjoy them actually.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of during a blizzard, our power would go out & the family would gather in the living room of our farm house.... We'd slide the big ol' pocket doors shut along one wall, hang a heavy blanket in the small doorway & have a fire going in the fireplace. Six of us hunkered down playing cards or games by flashlight, lantern &/or candles.

My kids have similar memories, of playing Sorry by candlelight and all sleeping in one room to stay warm

I am anti-generator & feel like that's cheating - lol

It's supposed to start here tonight. This is what I just copied from a nearby weather station: As the evening approaches so will our next big winter storms. Look for snow/sleet/freezing rain to arrive sometime after 8 PM. Winter weather will then again be likely all day Sunday with highs in the lower 20's. Total snow accumulations of 6" to 10" are likely across central Illinois!

We've got groceries, so I say bring it!

YOUR CRAZY!!!!!!

I don't have a fireplace or generator. No way of staying warm. My family will all be so grumpy if the power goes out.

find a friend with a fire place that if you loose power for a long time you can go bunk with them.

I can't think of anyone I know who even has a fireplace that is real. Even if I did, according to what the news is reporting I would not be able to get there.

I guess one other concern I have is I called in one of Cassidy's meds Friday, when I went to get it they told me it would not be in till Monday. That was fine because I don't technically need it till Monday evening when I re-fill her meds for the week. This was before I knew about the storm. Now I am concerned because no power, means no meds. It's one of her main anti-rejection meds. It is just 0.5 mg and I can always give her 2 mg BID instead of the 1.5 mg dose and she should be fine, then switch it back later. More med's is better than less, but it is still concerning.

I am just on the northern edge of the storm that is supposed to hit. I have heard thru-out the previous days that we could get anywhere from 2" to 14" total. I just looked and they have revised it again to only 4-6". That is nothing for this part of the region. I am not concerned. In all of the weather hits we've had this season, we've never lost power. Don't expect to with this one either. We've already had storms this year that dumped 7" and 12" (twice) on us -- I just look at this one as one more storm towards spring. I am sooooo looking forward to that!!

We got a pretty good amt of rain the last few nights. We were even under a tornado warning for a bit last night. I'm sure it's not the storm you are speaking of. Stay safe :-)

P.S. Keep your storm. I've done more than enough shoveling for the winter.

Worrying won't do a thing. We have a gas generator if the power goes out. Both our cars were filled up today. We also went to the grocery store today so we have food. If our power goes out, I will put the fridge outside. Chris got a new snow blower too, so that is covered.

I don't even know how much snow we are supposed to get. I haven't checked. The other day it said 18 inches. I am hoping they lie!!

I don't see anything in our forecast but some snow showers.
I just watched a video on TWC and it's not showing anywhere near that for CT.

On Friday, a huge storm was supposed to hit on Monday and Tuesday. If that blew by, I am happy. I don't want any more days off from school!!

It's probably the one coming this way but from what I saw, the largest amount is towards Maryland/DC. I think NYC was in like the 5 - 8 range?

I am concerned because of the way it impacts the company I work for and them employees in the impacted regions.

The only thing that worries me is possibly losing our power. If the snow is heavy, or we have ice, we sometimes lose our power. It's to cold not to have heat!! We have plenty of food.

We rarely get the amount that is forecasted anyway.

I haven't really checked, I'm just sort of hoping it doesn't happen. We've had enough snow for one winter and are ready to to get going with outdoor activities.

Getting more nervous. One of the meteorologists tweeted a picture of about a dozen or more power trucks sitting on standby in a parking lot.

I collected some candles and things together, need to get some blankets and curtains ready to hang up to block off if the power should go out. Hubby doesn't seem worried.
