Beautiful tributes. The video made me cry. Phil was a sweetheart and obviously touched so many lives. What a true angel.

Phil got along with everyone, but there were those handful of guys at the PD that he was really close to. Those were three of them, but I'm sure you could tell. The others declined an interview. The first officer had the same sense of humor that Phil did. They combined forces and pulled pranks on other officers. The second officer interviewed has three daughters the same ages as ours. The last officer interviewed was the officer that finally convinced Phil to go to the ER when he was first diagnosed. Great group of guys! The girls and I spent the evening with them last night just sharing stories.

I like that you can immediately bring the great memories out. So, Phil was a prankster huh? That's funny! Did he ever pull them on you and the girls?

Did I ever tell you about the time I left Bianca watching Lucia when she was about five months old in her room while I went into the bathroom to grab some wipes? I asked her to also clean up the baby toys that were on the floor while she watched Lucy. Anyway, I came back in the room and she had her back to the baby so I grabbed her real quick and took her to Greg in the bathroom. I came back and asked Bianca where the baby was. She looked around all confused and said "I don't know! Lucy? Luuuuucy! Where are you?" I said "did you lose the baby?! I was only gone three minutes! Where is my baby?!" She panicked and ran through the house looking for her yelling for her in a stern voice as if Lucia could just get up a run away. I couldn't take it any more and started laughing. She, not so much LOL I think she was mad at me the rest of the day!

Aw how nice to hear his voice - and to find out at last how you pronounce your surname. I didn't like to ask.

Thanks for sharing, Jen.

The "t" is silent. When his family came to the US from France they added the "T" to make it sound more American, to assimilate. My sil recently found older relatives through Ancestery.com and they told us that it was actually pronounced 'ree so' not 'ri so.' We still pronounce it 'ri so.' Most people say 're sot.'

The head shaving interview was after his first induction, and just two days after my mom passed away.

He was always joking around at home with the girls. Abby was just sharing some of those stories with me this morning. A friend of mine sent the girls journals and I told them they should write a memory of their dad down each day. Lilly and Camy were worried that Abby would forget him because she's so young. I think the journals will help ease that worry. My dad lost his father when he was five and he still has memories of him, so he shared that with the girls too.

hey, I was pronouncing it right! (well, mostly, I probably had slightly more z than s sound LOL)

TFS, Jen. You gave us a glimpse of Phil that was real, not just the pics. KWIM?

You might have already thought of this... ask the girls if they'd each like to pick out one of Phil's shirts to keep for herself.

A friend of mine (the wife of the second officer interviewed) is making each of the girls a t-shirt quilt. I'm going to ask her to include his PD and K9 patches on his plain black t-shirts too.

I love the idea of the journals for the girls. Keeps him close to their hearts with their memories.

Thanks for sharing all this, Jen -- I know it was hard but it helped put a figure to the man you have been sharing the past few months.
