Ours has a foam latex top, about 1" thick, on top of a firm mattress base. It's made by Dunlopillo. I love it like no other mattress I've ever slept on - every night I think it's the best investment we ever made.

Beth Ann, that's half the trouble with ours.... I roll to the center.

It is a pillow top, so we can only rotate it - not flip it.

Not sure which type we'll get next. I pretty much hate mattress shopping second only to car shopping!

I want to consider a memory foam (or one of those memory foam honeycomb dealios) when we replace it.

I, too, roll to the middle.

That's the problem with a bed that used to be for one...

My mattress I wouldn't recommend at all. We bought cheap when we bought it 9 years ago and it's lifetime was only supposed to last 10 years and yeah, it's there.

What I would like to get is a Sleep Number bed. That way we could adjust each side as to how we would like it. I think I would like mine firmer than DH would like his. My parents bought one of these 10-11 years ago and now my DS has one and he and his wife love it. Probably won't get it though as I live with Mr Cheapskate and he'd never agree to that pricey of a mattress.

We need a new one. It's old enough and has 2 sinky spots. Ours is not a pillowtop but was not designed to be flipped - only turned.

When we moved into this house 9 years ago we bought a pillow top, within the past 2 years we have both been in such pain from the mattress, it was saggy on both our sides & had a hump in the middle. My hip and knee hurt all the time.

We finally decided to take the plunge and buy a new one last November. We bought this one. I liked it in the store because when I laid on it I kinda sunk down in and it was so soft. Well it wasn't like that when they brought it. Hubby said it would take time, but I still don't feel it doing it, but I do sleep better than before and my hip no longer hurts. It cost way too much and we will be paying on it forever.

I can't remember the brand, but we just got it several months ago. It's supposed to be memory foam.

We've been in this house now 13 years, and I swear we've bought at least 3 mattresses already!

I don't care how much you pay for a mattress, what their warranty is, nothing is going to last past a few years.........

I Love my sleep number, DH likes his side soft, I like mine firmer, so it works great for the 2 of us. We have had it for 18 years and it is still just like new, no sink holes in it. Last year we replaced the foam around the outside of the air chambers, but they were still partially under warranty so it only cost $18.

We got an ikea memory foam pillow top mattress. Best mattress ever, probably because we got a huge discount for getting it in the "as is" department - the zipper had popped on the mattress, super easy fix that saved us 300 bucks.

Tempurpedic. Absolutely love it. And it's adjustable for reading or watching TV in bed...

We bought a "Hilton Heavenly Bed" two years ago - no regrets. When I got to stay at high end hotels for work I discovered nothing hurt in the morning. I was having low back pain every day, but not when I traveled for work. So I talked DH into getting the same mattress. You can buy them directly from the hotel chains (Westin & Hilton sell them) or if you go into a mattress store they usually know what you're after.

Definitely price shop. We saved several hundred dollars by checking out a few stores' prices for the exact same mattress.

Is Sleep Number and Temperpedic the same thing? DH wants the one that adjusts on each side.

It' funny how these topics come up. Especially since we are also in need of a new mattress. We have been going back and forth whether to get a Sleep Number or the one that has the cooling with it.

I'm glad to see so many positive responses to the Sleep Number; because I had come across several bad reviews.

I think we are going to have to do a shopping trip and try everything out.
