Well. . .it's been a pretty brutal couple of months here. Home today. . . My anxiety level is pretty high. I've been scrapping some the last couple of months. . . Doing some challenges on Scrapbook.com. My husband has been great. . . The challenges take my mind off things and he's always "did you finish that challenge yet? Or why don't you scrapbook?". LOL.

The first furlough stuff . . . A day a week was bad, but at least we could prepare. This go 'round we've got no idea what's happening. I can say. . .I don't blame Republicans. I think they're doing their job. Unfortunately, most of what is going on is bogus. The Defense Dept furloughed us. . .but we technically shouldn't have been. I'm told lawyers are looking at it. But our new Sec of Defense sent us home. . .and you know who he works for. The bill to fund the DoD is worded do that we should have been allowed to work. . . .hmmm. Then all the bogus stuff going on with the memorials and things. If you've nevere been here. . .most of the memorials inDC are open air. . .no fences, doors, gates, monitors or even security guards. Suddenly they are putting up barriers everywhere. . .even blocking off some of the parking down at Mt Vernon. . .which is privately owned. Anything to make it look bad and inconvenience people. . .and try to blame the Repubs.

Anyway, with the Navy yard shooting, furloughs, and all the name calling. . .its been a little stressful. Anyway. . .at least I can scrap!!!

Missed you all. . . :-)

I'm so glad to see you here. During the Naval Yard thing you made the top of my worry list. I found myself scanning names and pictures to be sure you weren't in that mess.

I try not to say too much about politics here because one never knows who they might offend. But this is ridiculous. I don't blame the House for trying to get the attention of the public on what the ACA will mean to many. I work for a company that employs over 500 people. It's going to hurt - a lot.

I've been to DC once. Every memorial that we went to was open air. The WWII memorial has no doors!! The Lincoln memorial - no doors! The Korean War, Vietnam, Washington Monument, Roosevelt's site - no doors!! I love the WWII vets taking matters into their own hands. The statement asking what makes the WWII memorial so special that it should be "open" when other parts of the government are shut down makes me sick. Think about for a minute you clowns.

The parks? A good number of them generate funds that support them. Yoesemite? Brings in hundreds of thousands of dollars a day to the park and surrounding communities.

Any way - enough - - I'm glad you are OK and I'm looking forward to some more of your beautiful work. It gives me inspiration.

I totally agree, there's a lot of stuff out there that people just don't understand. I'll only say one thing about the ACA. . . I've read a lot of it. . . Which apparently some in the government haven't - and I'm not impressed. I can't see anyone who has read it not wanting to block it.

I'm just hoping this won't last long. . .so. . . I'm going to scrap today! :-)

That is just beyond BS. Beyond. OMG, it makes me soooooooo mad!!!!

On a side note - I saw George Bush Sr. in Kennebunk on Tuesday. We were driving by when he was leaving a restaurant being pushed in a wheelchair to a waiting car.

I hope it doesn't last long either Marty. There are so many people being affected by the shutdown.

Can you just picture the democrats and republicans sitting in a room together with their fingers in their ears saying, "I'm not listening, I'm not listening?" Childish! They need to come to a compromise and stop blaming and name calling.

Wow, I am so glad that you are okay. I was also worried about you.

Gramma, I agree with you 100%! I just feel everyone in Congress should go without paychecks for a year to whip them into shape....instead of playing these games.

Someone said this about the open air monuments in regards to employees:

Those memorials are guarded by employees of the Parks Department. You may not always SEE them but they are there.

(It was also mentioned about employees that take care of the parks with picking up trash, etc.)

Good to see you!! You have had a rough couple of months, Girl!!

I don't talk about politics much either, but am annoyed with EVERYONE at this point. I think term limits should be instituted for these bozos in congress. Then maybe they wouldn't worry so much about their careers and more about their constituents. They also should be without pay like the rest of the furloughed employees!!

I agree, Nora. There just should not be career politicians. There needs to be term limits.
