If you have a student that is failing a class or subject (and NOT Spec Ed or 504, and I would say this would be more of a middle to high school teacher question) would you be nudging them to get extra help, pass in HW etc.. to pass or is that their responsibility? Is it required that you get in touch with their parents by administration?

We monitor Char's grades by computer so I know exactly what is going on. We have access to grade books of students from 6-12th grade and feel it is my responsibility to do this as a parent. If I see something I don't approve, I confront her, then have her go to the teacher for either extra help or to explain how she can learn from her mistake next time. Am I alone in this thinking?

I work, my dh works and I don't have all the time in the world. I just feel if I have a kid and we have this tool, it is MY RESPONSIBILITY as a parent to use it.
