Here are some new pics of Ben from our last few days.

On his '6 month birthday'.

Eating rice cereal for the first time!

Daddy gave him the whole bowl to play with after he was done eating.

I love this one! It is like he is saying 'ok done now - get me out of here!'

Meeting the Easter bunny!

He's adorable! I still eat the baby rice cereal once in awhile.

You get a whole year maternity leave? Nice! I'm not positive, but I think the average is 3 months in our area.

A year maternity leave is great -- enjoy the next 6 months as much as you have the past 6.

My DDIL was allowed 6 weeks for a natural birth and 8 weeks for a C-section. She goes back to work on Monday. She's not a happy camper -- but then she hates her current job. LOL

One of the girls here in the office is due any day now. The boss was allowing her 3 weeks off. She is taking 6 and adding in vacation time to the 3 he's allowing her. So -- it seems the time off varies.

Yes in Canada it is pretty standard to have a year maternity leave at most jobs. The mom can take a year or you can split the year between the parents however you like. We chose for me to take the whole year as dh's employers are awesome and if he needed some extra days they would give it no problem. Plus he gets a good deal of holidays already.

My dh's cousin lives in Minnesota and her kids are older now but was telling us that she took 6 weeks with the first and only 4 with the second because of having just switched jobs not long before. I can't even imagine going back to work that quickly! I wouldn't want to miss out on all the daily things with B this first year. Also here, it is very rare for daycares to accept children under one year. Some are even raising the minimum age to 18 months.
