Hypothetically speaking...if you were to surprise your child with a vacation to go whale watching and then to Disneyland...what would you pack for the child? Hypothetically, of course.
The hypothetical mom hates to make packing lists.

Besides the basics of clothes and proper footwear (where is the hypothetical whale watching taking place?... Does she needs boots or boat shoes, etc) probably a few small time wasters, a book or two if she is the reading type (kindle?), and if driving any length, snacks.

I have no idea but wow, the hypothetical child is very lucky! I would LOVE to see a video of the hypothetical child's face when she was told what was happening. If it were to happen, of course.

i'm not a good one to ask. I always pack too much.

I usually pack enough clothes for everyday plus extra's.

Depending on where you are staying towels/shampoo/comb, etc

a book or 2
a couple of favorite toys
snacks
pen/paper/coloring book/crayons

How many days? Warm or cool?

I usually pack outfits that coordinate. Pants that match two outfits, shorts that match two outfits, sweaters that match two outfits. That way whether it's warm or cool we're prepared. That way you're only taking two pairs of pants, two pairs of shorts, two sweaters, shirts for every day, underwear for every day plus a few, ect.

Other then that; toiletries, snacks, DS, Ipod, book, DVDs, camera ect.

Sounds like a lot of hypothetical fun!

Hypothetically...... Can I be your kid? LOL, ohhhh thinking this is very much fun! Pack a throw away camera! Hypothetic kid can take pics from her own vantage point, Who cares about clothes, she will wear whatever is packed, (not kidding) a small bag of candy\treats, sunscreen, disney park map, voucher for a souvenir of her choice!

Thank you temps is low 70s, but hours on boat will be chilly. Whale watching is off of long beach where there have been sightings of blue whales already!!!!! (plus grey, right, and humpback and a ton of dolphins). The hypothetical girl has so many electronics, so mom is debating on which ones to take/leave home. They'll be gone for just under a week. I do love the camera idea.

So excited..
My dream is to see a blue whale in the wild. While I know there's still a chance that we won't see one, there's more of a chance now than ever! http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/blogs

didn't they teach you anything in your internets class - one never says when they will be gone. I'll still have internet access, it's not like we're going to an island with no wifi.

internet class?! When do you think I went to school!? LOL

When I was in high school, computers were bigger than the teachers lounge!

And I'm not "one of those" that worry about such things. The whole entire world wide web knew when we were getting married, etc. We do however, have people at our house, taking dogs out, getting mail, etc. So if someone wants to try something stupid - more power to 'em.

Have fun.
Whenever.

I think that everyone has covered what is needed for the hypothetical vacation!

So I hope that if the said hypothetical vacation happens, everyone has a great time!
