I have only been once and we stayed at the Flamingo. It was a work conference for dh and his work had booked everything. It was an ok hotel but not as exciting as a lot of the others seem. I wouldn't pick it again. Dh has also gone with some guys to Vegas and they stayed at Planet Hollywood and loved it. They said the staff were great and they also got a free room upgrade to a suite.

It's been several years since we've been...so things might have changed a bit since -- but here goes.

We stayed off the strip at The Orleans. Room prices were around $50/night for a double queen room. Nice hotel, nice amenities. Could have a mountain view room or a strip view room...took the strip view and it was pretty cool at night. Hotel is about 1 mile away from the strip, easy to get there and back as the hotel had conveyance to/from the strip but we had a rental car so we drove to the strip daily and parked for free in the hotel parking lots.

If we were to go there again, we'd stay at The Orleans again without a doubt. Less hectic. Less cost.

Last year, in June, my daughters and I were there for a CK convention, and we stayed at South Point, which is where the convention was. It was ok, accomodations were good, but the casino part smelled like smoke. Didn't notice any of the casinos on the strip having a strong smoke odor.

We thought the Flamingo was bad for the smoke smell as well as some of the older hotels. I felt sick if we spent any amount of time in them. Never had that problem in the newer hotels. Dh thought it was probably the ventilation in them.

I have stayed at Harrah's, Imperial Palace, the Flamingo, and Treasure Island. Imperial Palace is really old. Our room at the Flamingo overlooked the Bellagio fountains; it was great. I really can't say I wouldn't stay at any of them again or that there is another I really want to stay at. Personally, I'm not in Vegas for my room. As long as it is considered safe, and preferably under $100/night then I'll take it. I'm going to spend so little time there that I don't care to spend big bucks to stay at the "fancy" places.

We stayed at Treasure Island when we went but only because that was where the show was and I didn't know any better. I think I would have stayed at Paris Paris if I went again because that is where we had most of our meals.
