can I ask for some opinions?
so a few days ago I got a txt from my brother that e-bay had a deal on a google tablet - $70 - it seems to have good features so I decided, after not thinking too long, that I would buy one for dh's birthday and one for the boys (not sure when I'd give it to them) - so I spent $140. It wasn't until today that I decided to check reviews, and most are BAD.
so now I am freaking out
should I open one/both and test it out - dh's birthday isn't til May, so I would't be able to return it (30 days is the terms) if I waited...
should I give it early? or just "confess" what I did to him, and let him decide?
I am going thru serious buyers remorse, I don't know what to do

I would ask him definitely. Especially because its technology he will have to use. Or you could just return them and start over. No harm done.

I let dh do all the reviewing on any kind of technology products cause he enjoys researching that kind of thing and I find it boring so I wouldn't buy anything like that for him personally unless he had picked it out. So if I was in your shoes I would ask him.
