It's an old washstand/bedroom commode. (NOT a toilet kind )
A work-friend of hubby's is moving out of state and getting rid of a lot of her things. This is one of the things she gave us. Isn't it awesome!? I have no idea where to put it though. It doesn't really fit in my tiny bathroom. It's too wide for the space between the tub and toilet. I could put it on the other wall between the tub and door. There would just be enough space to get by the toilet to the tub.

Oh I love that!! Do you have anywhere else you could put it besides the bathroom?? It looks like it would hold lots of scrapping material.

No, I have no idea. It's got some damage. It's also on casters - don't know if it was made with them or someone added them on.

Nice! What are the dimensions? Could you use it as a small sideboard table or nightstand?
I would take the back part off, distress it, and paint it a bright color.

Oh, no, I like the back Jen! There literally is about no place to put it. There's no room in my bedroom (didn't you see my pics in the challenge forum with Stephanie's challenge? ) I already have a sideboard in my kitchen. My microwave is on it. It goes with the hutch piece I have in the LR.
I just scrubbed it all up, went over it with a scratch cover (which is kind of oily) and went over bare wood with lemon oil.
The wheels on it are wood.

BTW - the knob on the door turns. It has a wooden teardrop shaped piece that keeps the door closed. (Well, I suppose if it was on an uneven surface or your house/floor was tilted because it doesn't really open up on it's own even if the knob's not turned to hold it.)

I have an antique washstand in my kitchen/dining area that I bought at a garage sale a loooong time ago. It's smaller than yours, and just has one drawer with an open bottom with a shelf. I paid $25 for it, and it literally fell apart when DH took it out of the trunk of the car. He wanted to throw it away, but I talked him into fixing it up. I love it! One of my favorite pieces of furniture!!!

This one is holding up so far - but the back is warped. It's not one piece either, it's several pieces of wood. And there's crack a crack in the bottom drawer where there was a seam in the drawer front. And other bits that have shifted. Even the bottoms of the drawers are made from multiple pieces of wood, not one sheet.

DH has fixed up old dressers with drawers like that. Had to put new bottoms in them, and a whole new back to the dresser. Lots of work!!!
Good luck in fixing up the washstand. It looks like a keeper!
