What's up with you and yours?

After coffee & computer time, I'll go fold the clothes in the dryer and dry what's washing

Jeremiah may be coming over to load his couch and recliner into our truck.

After a bit of work on my hair and face.... I'll head up to my nephew's hockey game. I'm a little nervous but a lot excited - LOL

HERE's the article his local paper had about todays event.

Going to scrap in a bit when I finish breakfast (just about to go grab it). Maybe do 1 or 2 zumba wii classes first. Later this afternoon have to bring daughter to the school for last night of play.

Great cause! How wonderful of the kids!! Have a nice time!

I'm off to work in a bit and then home to work out in the garden for a few hours before dark. I also need to get cracking on my chicken coop plans. I picked up my babies yesterday and they are going to be ready for a permanent home before I know it

They don't stay cute little chicks very long either, Mon. The feathers come out pretty fast.

well I was up sick puking my guts around 4:30 this morning. so I attempted to sleep on the couch after that. I felt a lot better around 9ish but lazed around some more.

i have cleaned the livingroom, swept and mopped it. Thrown a bunch of wood in the house but had to stop as I was shaking so badly. Then I have started on the kitchen. Dishwasher is going, some dishes have been washed and more do to. I really should clean off the table as the inlaws are coming to watch J's hockey game and supposed to be spending some time with him. So we'll see when they arrive.
Not sure if I'll get the table done, I want to clean myself up but my energy is gone, what energy I had.

Jenna had a sleep over, so I woke up to 2 girls giggling and laughing. It was funny to listen to. DH is now taking the girl home. He's so funny, he stopped and took them to the mall. Crazy man.
No idea what the rest of the day holds.

today is dh's game day, so he's expecting a few buddies to come play Heroscape with him in about an hour - 2 of them are my brothers, so my nieces will be here to play too

we have spent all the morning cleaning house - the boys helped too, so that makes it take longer LOL, but they are learning, and that is what's important

I have a whole lotta nothin on my agenda for the weekend, maybe I can scrap a little tomorrow after church, I got out my things last weekend, and made NOTHING - I feel like I have forgotten HOW TO SCRAPBOOK

I worked on pages. I've got one all figured out but can't stick the pics down until hubby gets home and I can ask him where they were taken. I like to write on the back before I stick them down just in case they ever get removed/fall off the layout with the info.

I did do 2 zumba classes on the wii after I got off here earlier in the day and also did dishes.

Went to a bridal expo with my friend Liz. She's getting married in September. I'm the maid of honor. After the expo we went to eat at a new Italian restaurant with a friend, Liz treated us. It was sooooo good. I have tagliatelle vongole, it was a pasta dish with clams, sooooooooo good. The tiramisu was to die for. It was big enough to share between the three of us. Then Liz and I went to see Safe Harbor tonight, loved it. Then we went home and colored her hair. Now at home playing on the computer. It's a math homework day tomorrow. Oh, and her fiancee has a copy of Ninja Assasin, YAY!! I have been wanting to see that movie, it has one of my fave guys in it. Can't wait to watch it next week.

We went to the inlaws farm and then to the next town over for dh's grandfathers wedding. It was just a small ceremony at their apartment and then we went out to a restaurant to eat. I was so stuffed when we got back so the dogs and I did some power walking around the farm.

No they don't. I'm already going to have to invest in a 2nd tub next week and split them up. I have them in a 105 qt Sterlite tub with a heat lamp and some chicken wire bent over the top. Since I got 12 I'm thinking I'll need to split them by 2 weeks of age. I think they are probably a week old right now.
Dh and I are looking at plans for coops. I'm think a 6 ft x 10 ft one with a 10 ft by 20 fenced area in front of it. I figure to start at a good size. If I manage to keep them alive I know I'll want more. Plus we are thinking of trying meat chickens... I'm just not sure I can do it LOL

You could make portable chicken runs and move them around the yard. Then they eat the bugs from the grass and you won't end up with just a bare patch where the coop and chicken yard is.

What I'd really like is just to let them free range a couple hours a day. It will depend on the population of predators out here. I've also seen portable runs done and that is a though. I do want a nice large secure yard for them though for when I'm not here.

Have you read up on predators? i.e. you may need something over the top for flying ones and either something along the bottom or fence that goes into the ground far enough so they don't dig in.
You might need a rooster to help keep guard.

I'm putting a top on it and digging down a foot or so around it to put the wire for the fence. Also I have to use 1/2 inch wire... meaning 1/2 inch between each wire. I have read that racoons will reach through the wire and grab the chickens and eat them through the wire

OH and these little babies are a chore! I have to clean their little tub at least once a day. They dump out their food or drag it out and poop everywhere!

I hadn't heard that about racoons. If the chickens are smart, they'll stay away from the fence.

You'll want a tall fence if you're going to build a permanent yard so you can walk into it. But you could line the lower part of the fence with hardware cloth (which is actually mesh wire, not cloth. lol)
