It has to be, unless it is a paper pack. maybe take it out of your cart; leave the site and then reenter the site and reorder and see what it says is the cost.

It's not wrong. I mean it IS wrong, but that's how the system is set up.
I just tried it. One piece of Graphic 45 paper for $1.09, shipping $42.01 to the UK.
They use the best international shipping, and the quickest way of doing it (basic pizza box for 1 sheet or 100), which isn't the cheapest but they'd waste a lifetime getting the best deal on shipping and then have to pass the costs on to the customer in other ways. Unfortunately international customers suffer. That's just the way it is.
It's even worse for Canadians because they get hit with international shipping costs when many of them live closer to the source than Americans. That must bite. We are thousands of miles away, extra cost is expected.
That's why I've blocked that ad that comes up in my banner every third time I refresh, saying Hey, we now ship to the UK. It's just salt in the wound. When it says Hey, we've cut our international shipping charges, I'll be interested.
No idea about the $740-worth not increasing the shipping much though - THAT doesn't sound right unless you've ordered $740 of Prima flowers!

I think part of the problem is the way shipping is calculated automatically. It happens to us, too, where the shipping calculates to more than it should be (not counting flat rate of course).
I think the only thing to do is to talk to someone by phone or email and ask about the shipping. I know that people complain about the shipping at 2 peas, too, and have to contact them to get a shipping refund.

So, you don't have access to all products we get here?? I mean, without it being shipped overseas??
I can't imagine paying that much for shipping!!!

I tried with a small little thing that would fit in a small std envelope as well .....$39.98
So it's just a std start off point for shipping internationally .
Don't know why they even offer international shipping to be honest....they can't get many taking them up on the offer. It's a pity, as there was a lot of stuff I could have enjoyed , but I am not going to spend 400 just to make the shipping worthwhile..... I can get free or cheap as chips shipping at other online stores who are more international friendly.
If I was in Canada, I would be so grumpy to be lumped with that bill.....I can see why you blocked that ad Rosey....that would bite me too.

We do have online stores and local stores here....but the prices are way more than buying directly....even with shipping....provided you pay the ACTUAL shipping cost.
I tend to shop at studio calico who offer free shipping over $129 or inspiration emporium who ship int'l for ten bucks, or Simon says stamp who ship int'l for reasonable rates (helps that they undervalue the goods too, so duty is not a problem)
Often I get with friends and do a big order to qualify for their free shipping. It must work for them, since they keep on doing it.

Oh my gosh - I had NO idea international shipping was so incredibly expensive. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to pay 40x the price of the item to ship it!!

Well Tam is saying that it may not be. But it has put me off even trying, so I'm not sure they're gaining from their automatic system, if that's the case.

At one stage I did contact them.....long time ago.......and was told the shipping was calculated and was what it was.
A friend suggested I give the GC to someone who would swap it with a voucher from somewhere who DOES ship here without the mega shipping bill.
Not sure if this is feasible or not, or even if it can be done.

If you know less expensive ways to ship internationally, why not just order what you like and send it to a jazzer who can ship it on to you?
Honestly, it's not so easy to ship 12x12 paper internationally (or even locally - I used to make layouts for other people, but the shipping costs were crazy), as the price increases when you go over 12" on package size - I can't find anything cheaper than $16.25 to ship to New Zealand from my house. I would be extremely frustrated if I were you, but I think that shipping price is actually the USPS flat rate shipping price, no mark-up.

Hmm I didn't realize the shipping costs were so crazy to Canada. What I may do with my gift card I won is have it shipped to dh's cousin in the US and she can bring it down when she comes to visit since she comes a few times a year!

It seems crazy though, that the small embellies like the enamel dots, which could fit in a small envie are sent at this huge flat rate cost. There are cheaper flat rate options for small items.

Maybe it's worth calling again for? Maybe you just got a lousy customer service person. You could ask for a supervisor.
It's bad business to tell people 'tough crap' (in so many words) when it's obvious they could cut the cost to the customer.
