I have been in a funk for the last week and I don't know why. There is nothing really wrong in my life but I am just so blue. I have to kick myself to be motivated to do anything and when I do, I am a tornado, getting a TON done when really I only wanted to finish a little project. It is almost like being manic-and no, I am not bi-polar!!!

I have had the last 5 days off-one because Zach (our dog) was sick, the weekend and two days off for snow.

As I am writing, I am starting to wonder if it is because I have not had a lot of alone time in a few weeks. I know it might sound weird to many of you but I am one of those people who needs it and when I don't get it, it is not pretty. Always have been this way, even when I was younger.

I'm totally with you Nora. I'm one of those people too. I think the winter is also a harder time to stay motivated and on track emotionally. I have been feeling that way also and I need to kick it in the butt before too long since I have a tons of stuff coming up that I need to prepare for. Would a little retail therapy help you? It helps me! LOL

Could it be hormonal?

That happens to me sometimes. It's like I can't get out of my own way.

I know how you feel! I'm at home, all day, by myself. When there are extra people around, 24/7, it bothers me. I cherish my alone time, even if I am always home alone. It's my time, I get to do the things I want to do, and not cater to everyone around me.

Me too Nora. I NEED "me" time. I'm very lucky to have so much at the moment, but I remember driving far out of my way home just so I could have the extra time alone in the car.

But now I'm sure some of mine is hormonal. I have a few hours each month of being very conscious that I'm being totally irrational and highly irritated. Thankfully it doesn't last long and I recognise it, but if anyone is in my way then good luck to them.

The miserable winter light doesn't help either.

Actually, I'll tell you one thing I noticed when it snowed here. The reflected snow light made me feel amazing - really cleansed and on a bit of a high. It was so strange and felt wonderful. I had enough energy to build a house! Does anyone else feel that way?

Not for me. But that is because I kept the shutters closed because the glare bothers my eyes LOL Winter depresses me something horrible and it's very hard for me to just hold on until Spring. I hate it!

I'm not into winter either! I want warm and sun. Beach would help too. I like alone time too!

I am with you Nora We are are just coming out of 2 months of black inversion everything was dark an gray all day every day. 2 months of being trapped in the house. Today is bright and sunny but I am still just tired. I hope the new sun will snap me out of it soon but I have to say I am getting quite fond of my afternoon nap

I'm with you as well Nora. I've been turning on my SAD light for an hour a night to try to help. Just frustrating when you can feel that you're in the funk yet you can't get out of it.

I am not sure if this is hormonal or not. I also don't think it is winter because I LOVE the cold!! The snow, not so much.

I am on meds for anxiety, which are also used for depression but I just haven't been feeling right. It is weird because when I started them last summer, I felt AWESOME and it has helped me feel more "even" and not sweat the small stuff.

I know one of the things that is bothering me is that we are supposed to go away for vacation to FL in the next few weeks and I don't really want to go. We will be driving and I hated doing this drive last year. It scares me to drive in the winter and I don't really want to get stuck down there. We are going to see my Dad and step mom and both are very excited to have us, especially since my father was not feeling well and could not do much when we were there last year. (run on sentence, I know!)

I tried to get my dh to let us fly but it was just too much money because we would have to rent a car. It is cheaper for us to rent a car for a week and stay a night in a hotel then for three to fly. I really would rather stay home, have Char spend a couple nights at Chris' mother's house, organize my house, craft, go to lunch with friends, just relax. I am a homebody and always like the sound of vacations but really prefer overnights. At least during the school year when I am working. Summer is a whole different story. Then I like vacations!!

I also think I am depressed because of my weight. I just haven't been motivated to exercise, something that is key for me to even think about losing weight. I will go one or two days to the gym and then because of life, won't go back for two weeks. I would rather clean public toilets then exercise, that is how much I hate it!! If I could figure out how to craft and do it at the same time, I think I would be more motivated to go!!! Hmm, maybe that is an invention I should come up with!!

Can you see that I have been doing a lot of thinking about this?

How about crafting on the dining room table, but keeping all your supplies in the basement or upstairs? Then you'd be trotting up and downstairs to get everything - good exercise!

I'm the opposite - I'd much rather drive than fly.

Reminding yourself how much you hate something only makes it worse.
Do you have a stationary bike you could ride while you watch a tv show?

I live in a 1 1/2 story house, and my scraproom is upstairs. I go up and down the stairs all day long! Good exercise! I also have a treadmill in the basement (more good exercise because not only do I walk the treadmill, but i have to go up and down stairs again).

When on my treadmill, I either listen to my ipod, or watch a movie on TV. Or, I take my ipad with me and watch youtube videos of things like mini albums, tutorials, and such.

As for vacations, I think most people get a little nervous about traveling, for various reasons. I love to travel, but I always get stomach aches before I go. Once I'm on the road/air, I'm fine! I think it's all the nervousness and worrying before we leave.....
