I love this...
How is it possible that a double chin can overpower the beauty of a mother cuddling her child? How does arm fat distract from the perfect shot of a spontaneous hug? I swear y’all . . . how is it that we can put more value on a TUMMY ROLL than the captivating way you throw yourself into a roar of laughter during a shoot?

It's not fat I have to get over (obviously) but the 'ugly' factor. I wear glasses. I don't have a cute nose. In fact, I have a big ol' bump in it. My hair doesn't look good. So if I don't 'have my face on' I'm more likely to not want a pic taken.
I do look back on some pics and think 'ugh!' still though.

It's the same concept no matter what your hang up. The people who love you just don't see it. We are always our own worst critics. And Tam, I don't recall seeing many pictures of you, but I always think of your wedding pics when I think of you and they were beautiful.

Yup. Here's another take on the same thing. The more photos you have taken of yourself, the more likely you are to find one taken from a flattering angle.
I'm nearly always behind the lens. I only appear in shots where someone has said "let me take one with you in". That ONE shot invariably shows the double chin, the enormous jaw, the fat arm, whatever imaginary fault I come up with. But if I give the camera to someone and say "your turn, I'll have it back in a few minutes. Go fill the card up", there will be some candid shots with me in where I am me being normal not me posing. And posing wrong.
Thanks for sharing Kim. She sounds like a lovely lady.

aw, thank you Heather!
I don't hate every picture ever taken of me. And there's some that aren't too bad and a few I really like.
Sometimes after a long time goes by and you look at old pictures your perspective changes. Sometimes.
