In Singapore I had some little rectangular plastic takeaway tubs which I froze soup in. They were just the size of one serving, and I could pop the frozen soup out to bag and put in the freezer so I could reuse the tubs. They were great space-savers, but they fell to pieces and I had to throw them out. I haven't seen any similar.

Here, I bought some plastic bags that you could freeze food in, then defrost in the microwave, but now I've finished the pack, the supermarket has discontinued them.

If you freeze soup, what do you freeze it in, and how do you defrost it?

I use these Ball Freezer Jars.

http://www.freshpreserving.com/products/freezer.as...

I froze some chicken noodle soup in them this past November and I was super impressed when I ate the soup last week, it was perfect, and tasted just as fresh as the day I made it.

Last time, I defrosted it in the microwave using the defrost setting for ground meat. Or if I am not in a hurry I sometimes just take it out the night before.

Ziploc has small freezer containers. I use those and set them out the night before to thaw in the refrigerator.

Yes, Ziplocs are what the supermarket has discontinued.

Those Ball containers, Nancy, are they rectangular or round in shape? I couldn't tell. My freezer is small - I have everything either squashable (frozen peas) or stackable bricks otherwise I can't fit everything in.

Yes I do Rosey.
I tend to do it in bigger portions due to the amount my piglets eat!
But when it was just B and I, I used to freeze it in empty yoghurt pottles that I had washed, then stored all of them free flow in a bigger container. I then just grabbed one out at a time....more if I needed it. I used to take them to work for lunch during winter and nuke it at lunchtime!

I have a variety of sizes, since I freeze casseroles etc. Make double recipe and freeze half for when we are busy.

I don't necessarily make soup to freeze... but when we have a big batch & don't want all of the leftovers, yes I freeze some. I use the ziplock containers.

When I was on Weight Watchers, I used to make several different low calorie soups to freeze for lunch throughout the week. I did that so much that I am now burnt out on them, lol. When I have extra stock, I freeze it in ziplock bags.

Yes - I have 2 crockpots full of vegetable beef soup cooking right now. . . Some will go in the fridge for dinner tomorrow and the rest in ziplock containers to freeze. :-)
