I was changing the cloth and the mats on ours this morning, just because I felt like a change, and it got me thinking.
Do you have a dining room table?
If so, do you use it every day?
Do you have a table cloth on it, or just table mats?
Do you keep any decorations on it, if so, what kind?

I don't have a dining room at all.
I have a kitchen table, and I use it daily. It doubles as a work table in my tiny kitchen.

No dining room so it's just our one table.
I used to put a table cloth on it a lot of the time because it looked bad. Once I refinished the top I was only using the tablecloths when we ate to protect the finish from the dishes. Now I usually just put down mats. Sometimes I leave the mats on and sometimes I just put them down when we eat.

well we have 1 table which we call our dining room table. I just recently got tableclothes but I don't have one big table cloth, I always say how much I want one but I have never found one I like.
we use it most everyday, right now it's full of crud that I need to put away so I do need to work on that.

I too have one dining table and keep a tablecloth on it all the time. We seldom use it unless the grandchildren are here, or a crowd comes for a meal. It does become a holding place for a few things but I keep clearing it. Usually a potted plant or vase of flowers and candles sit on it.
I have tablecloths of all sizes but we custom ordered our table to be a few inches narrower than standard tables so the cloths are always long on the sides! I probably could hem them but it doesn't bother me that much. :0

I have a dining room table. We use it about once a month (i.e. whenever we have more than 4 people at our house for a meal). Sometimes I keep a tablecloth on it and sometimes I leave it plain. I'm not consistent about whether I keep decorations on it or not.

No dining room table. When we re-did our kitchen, we outed the kitchen table in favor of an island for more storage. We extended the side of the island to sit at and put in 2 bar-stools. We did this about 5 years ago -- and even to this day we eat on the couch in front of the TV.
If (not often) we have others over for dinner, we get out tray tables -- or we have a fold out table we can use in the den.

We have a separate formal dinning room which we never use with a custom made table that cost an arm and a leg. It's my most precious set of furniture and I get so upset that we don't get to use it all the time. I told Greg I want to put it in place of the kitchen table and he is like, not until the kids can take care of it LOL I keep a runner on it and a candle centerpiece sort of thing. My kitchen table is big and I keep nothing on it since I'm cleaning it three times a day.

We only have a dining room table as our kitchen has an island instead of a table. It is a glass table and I never put a table cloth on it, just placements and we have a variety of those. I usually have something in the center of the table and switch it up every month or so. Right now it is a black candle holder with 3 hurricane vase style covers. We eat at it every day.

Vivi - why not eat dinner in there at least once a week or something? Maybe a Sunday dinner if you are all home at the same time and not running around.

Dinner is always a big kitchen affair, that's why I would love to have my nice set in there instead. I love cooking and talking while everyone eats little things or has a drink before the big meal.

our dining room is used all day every day - we all sit to eat every meal. we tried a table cloth, but it was always sliding all around, so we took it off. I am in search of some good placemats - mostly because on dh's spot, is a "hot spot" - meaning that his dishes have left a white area from being too hot on the bare table.
and no, I don't decorate it, I love to clear it completely off, and like that super clean look

Do you have a dining room table? Yes we do.
If so, do you use it every day? No, not every day. We use it when my dh eats dinner with us.
Do you have a table cloth on it, or just table mats? We usually use placemats, but only when we are eating. We have fun placemats for the girls for different holidays and different characters that they like. They don't stay on the table.
Do you keep any decorations on it, if so, what kind? I decorate the middle of the table. Usually a table runner, or three placemats in the center with vases and other decorations. It depends on the holiday or season. Right now I have a Valentine's day runner, red vase, vase filled with conversation hearts, and a vase filled with styrofoam hearts with glitter and sequins on them.

Our kitchen is a combination kitchen and dining room. We have an island in the kitchen area where we sit and eat everyday. The only time we use the dining table is when we have extra guests, but usually, even then, we use the island.
Most of the time I just have junk piling up on the table. It gets cleaned off only when we need to seat extra people....

No we don't have a dining room table; because our dining room is the boys computer/play room and my scrapbook room.
It depends on my mood whether I put a tablecloth on my kitchen table.

Have one? yes.
Use it? no. (unless the kids are over, then we sometimes use it for games. or when my sweetie's mother is over - THEN we actually eat there.)
On it? placemats.
Decorations? placemats & a mirror thingie (too small to consider a runner) & two candles & a fake plant I hate & want to get rid of.

We have a formal dining room with a set as old as me. We use it maybe 3 times a year. Right now I do not have anything on it. Took Christmas down and didnt replace.
We also have a kitchen set with mats on it.

Interesting.
I was watching a home makeover program on TV where it advised people who have turned their dining rooms into studies to turn them back again for sale modelling, because although most people don't use their dining table, they want a dining room. Sounds like that's true.
Here is ours. Check out that sunshine! We haven't seen that bright stuff for a looooong time.
