I painted the mirror once. It had water damage and the silver was worn off the bottom edge. I used waterproof glass paint, a sponge and a stencil. It was a good fix for a few $$. I don't live there anymore or I would take pics.

If you want to see the pics a bit larger, click the links at the bottom.

Before. hahaha I have to stand in my closet to get pictures. There's another skinny cabinet on the right, just like the left. The row of hooks you see reflected in the mirror I put up. BTW - it's been several years since I did the makeover.

After. Beside painting the walls and the 'wood' finish, I spray painted the handles on all the doors, removed the trim from the top of the cabinets, the little railing bits from the bottom, the gold trim around the mirror which I then framed out, and spray painted the gold bases of the the globe lights. The frame, light bases, and cabinet handles were all spray painted in 'brushed nickel'.

That is cool, Tam!

We painted ours when we moved into the house 9 years ago. It was very country blue...painted it a dark green. We completely upgraded the bathroom 2 years ago and replaced the cabinet so are back to a light wood color.

So pretty Tam, and that's the same colour now as my bathroom. I love the sunny yellow.

Stephanie - can you post pics of your bathroom for us to see?

That's just the lighting and my flash. It's actually a sage type green like my bedroom.

All I can think is if they had put a small sink in the bathroom instead of this 'in between' hallway sort of thing, I could've had another closet there.

I'm assuming the Harley is staying? Yeah, black would go well.

wow that's a huge cabinet.

I'd start with black on the mirror and see how you like it.

It'll be a lot of work painting that as the sanding will be a pain.

Don't forget to paint the light fixture board.

yup - the Harley is staying (for now) LOL as we've got a wayyyy older / ickier bathroom upstairs which needs gutted & redone.

You're right Karen, it is a huge cabinet. But the oak, or whatever finish that is (?) just doesn't go. I want to put new hardware on the drawers / doors as well.

Then, go for it. If you don't like it, you can always paint it again.
