This is not meant to be a super controvercial question (although it probably will be). I just want to know if they bother you? Do you think they are ok?

Here is a little background...I grew up in a very small town of 200 people. the whole county went to the same school. Everyone there was white. I caouldn't wait to get out. My daughter goes to a school where white is the minority. She is 8 and has a crush on a boy who happens to be black. She said she wasn't going to tell her dad because he says white girls shouldn't "date" black boys. And this is 100% his opinion.

What say you?

The unity of two people in love is what I look for not their color, shape or religion. Greg and I are huge opponents of the definition "interracial couple" or families. A couple is a couple is a couple. A family is a family is a family. Colors matter not at all and should not define the outcome of love.

My signature is small because Tam said so...

To me, race and colour are not necessarily the same thing. Colour shouldn't matter. Race sometimes does, because there can be such enormous differences in cultures to get round - too big for some people to handle. But 8-year-olds? Nope, the important thing is that he's a nice kid with similar family values to hers. His skin colour shouldn't matter. Good luck to her.

My family touches on the race rather than color. My mom got chased home from school because she was a "Jap". There was a lot of hate toward her growing up.

I totally was teasing. I remember when my oldest was 4 1/2 & the teacher sent home a note because one little boy and girl were holding hands & "dating" -- we were all to have talks about how dating was for grown ups...

As long as they're a good person and treat my babies right, I don't care what color they start out. They don't treat them right, then they will be black and blue.

I know what you mean Rosey about the cultural differences.....

....sometimes they can be just too big a hurdle to jump over... I am thinking specifically about a woman I know of who married a guy from an islamic country. The differences in culture were massive, esp in the treatment of women, expectations of what women do etc.

In the end, I think they pretty much had to split....as neither were able to cross over completely if you know what I mean. When they dated, he was very westernised, but when they married, things changed. I often wonder what happened to them, as they were a lovely couple togther. ( Did not know them that well, she was just a work colleague)

In my opinion and my belief is that color and race do not matter. I have lots of different races in my family and it does not bother me at all. My church also preaches that nowhere in the bible does it state that you should not marry of a different race. It only states that you should marrry someone of faith. I hate the old school way of thinking!

You're so right, AND bone structures. I think 1 part African, 1 part Asian and 2 parts Caucasian is the most beautiful recipe. I knew a family once with that history and I couldn't stop looking at them. They were exquisite, all of them.
