Seems any new electronic takes some getting used to. I assume (and hope) that you will get used to it & those kinks will get ironed out.....

When you say "mouse pad thingie" do you mean the touch-pad? The little square which you can use to move the cursor instead of the mouse?
If you do, and you use a mouse instead, you can turn the touch pad off. Have you got a Windows laptop or a Mac?
I don't quite know what you mean about taking the mouse off the computer. You shouldn't be using the mouse ON the keyboard, it should be on the desk next to it really. Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly though.

yes the touchpad that is what it is called
I keep hitting it with the side of my thumb... I have always rested my wrists on the bottom of my keyboard but now because of the touchpad it is causing me problems because It keeps moving the cuser around and clicking on things. So I am guessing that I am not suposeto rest my wrists.... am I suposto keep them up like when you play the piano?
I like the idea of turning the touch pad off but I also need to learn how to use it. When I try to use it it clicks when I am just trying to drag it to somthign and I end up with with windows popping up everywhere. and sugjestions for that ?
sorry about the spelling today for some reason my spell check is not working today

You didn't answer my question but I'm going to assume you have a Windows laptop! It would help a lot if you could tell me the make and model.
You should be using EITHER the mouse driver OR the touchpad driver, not both at once, because the signals can get muddled up and cause weird things to happen.
There should be some way of telling the touchpad what to do, like touch once or twice to click. It sounds as if you have it set to touch once for click and you probably want twice. That should stop the windows from popping up, but it won't stop the cursor from moving because that's what the touchpad is designed for.
Go to Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and under Devices and Sound, you should see TouchPad or TrackPad. Click on that. That should bring up a little window with various settings. You should see something for click or double-click, or speed - not having a Windows laptop myself, I don't know exactly what.
Have a click around and see what you can find? Let me know if you get stuck? Good luck!

I used to Christy, but I got very painful tennis elbow (yeah, I know) and when I switched to using the touchpad it went away completely. It must have been the position I had to hold my wrist to work the mouse.
