I'm not as dumb as a box of rocks!!
You just have to find someone who can speak your language, and slowly. 
Ignore the compositions. I was mainly trying to work out exposure. I did all these on manual mode and I have not touched them up in any way - just resized for the board. Sorry, had to blur my son's face out as I don't post my kids' identities online. And the pic of hubby outside - um, normally he doesn't look that bad but he was cold and the wind was blowing in his face and he was telling me to hurry up.
