Went to the doc Friday for A1C's and all that good stuff. Good news is that my cholesterol and A1C's are down. Bad news...my Metformin is making my kidneys not do their job. I don't know what the numbers mean but she said I went from a .9 to a 2.2 and that was bad. So she put me on Levemir. It's a long acting insulin. I take one shot at night between 8-9. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I don't have insurance and the meds are expensive. I go Monday to apply for help to get my meds for free from a diabetes program here in town. Hope I can get it or I'm screwed. Thanks everyone.
I qualified for free insulin. Now we have to wait for the company to send it. Could take a while but doc gave me a couple of bottles so should be good.
I also qualified for what is called a RESTAT card. It gets me a free meter and it pays for strips every month. It has a $2 copay and will pay up to $300. It's good for a year and then I would have to re-apply.
