......where is my physiotherapist daughter when you need her?
Don't know whati have done, but my hip is excruciatingly painful. I can not walk properly, I can't raise my leg to go up stairs without pain. Started yesterday, it was sore to sit on a hard seat....( the loo ) then as the day progressed, the muscles around the hip area started to hurt.
I have not done anything to hurt it.
Very weird. Anyone had anything similar? What did you do to fix it? Otherwise I am healthy as......

does it go down your leg a bit? could it be a pinched nerve in your back?

Yikes! I usually make an appt with my chiropractor. Tam may be right, it may be a pinched nerve.

Osteopath sweetie. Did you ever go and get your neck sorted out for that headache? You're probably twisted at the top and at the bottom of your spine.
Where does it hurt when you lift your leg? When you bend forwards? Does it hurt if you lift your leg when you're sitting down? If so, where?

This might be a TMI, but I had very tight hipflexors and hip mucles in general.... on occasion when hubby and I are "athletic" together what you are describing happens to me. It's from pulling the flexors.......... Get it sorted out but also start doing regular hip stretches to loosen em up a bit!

Try a piriformis stretch. I like this one: http://www.teachpe.com/stretching/piriformis .php
You can use a towel behind the knee to pull up on if you prefer instead of reaching behind your leg. The piriformis in most people goes over the sciatic nerve. If it gets tight it presses on the nerve therefore causing a multitude of symptoms.

This made me giggle!! thanks!
The last time I had this happen I had just walked or should I say hiked, 26km with a full pack on my back, up and down hills.....But I have done nothing to aggravate it this time, I dont think..... Not getting better either. Will have to visit someone on Monday! Getting no sympathy fgrom the guys in this house....they just laugh at me, when I am trying to get up off the floor, or lift my leg to climb the stairs.
Thanks for the stretch....I will try that to see if I can get some releief.

You are most welcome Sharon! But to clarify, it doesn't just happen during acrobatic athletics, the same thing will happen to me if I run very long distances or hike for long distances, specially if you haven't in a while, and sometimes it's just something simple that I don't think about till the next day when I feel I did something...... It is aweful painful and no fun!
