Yay! My laptop has been dying ever so slowly for the last 2 years. Last March we actually looked into buying a new one, but it wasn't a good time and ended up having to use the $ for taxes. I've had my laptop for over 5 years and while it's been good to me, the fan is constantly going, it crashes whenever it has to do something hard, and new program updates don't even work on it.
We refinanced our house for a much lower rate and so DH said we could go to the Apple store tomorrow after we go get tires for his car (for some reason car sliding on snow due to no traction trumps new laptop). But, we'll be going to the Apple store tomorrow and I will be walking out with a new laptop! I can't wait.
ETA: I just looked it up, got it in 2006. That's a long life for a laptop

Nearly 7 years IS a long time for a laptop. I think I got through 2 in that time, although the first one was very second-hand.
Whatcha getting? Do you know yet?

My laptop only lasted a couple of years too - problem is that technology moves on so quickly now!

Macs are different though, they do tend to last a fair while longer than Windows.
