I hear people talking about having so much laundry to fold and put away.

How do you do your laundry?

I pull things out of the dryer and immediately fold them. At MOST I may have one load to be folded (if I leave it in the dryer when I go to bed) - but it gets folded before anymore loads come out of the dryer.

How do you go about it? Do you wash and dry multiple loads, but just keep them in a pile to be folded later?

I'm absolutely a folder as soon as the dryer shuts off! If I don't have time to fold them immediately.... I probably won't even start a load in the first place. Much fewer wrinkles that way.

I wish I could do better, but I just don't have free hands right now. I can wash and dry, but then it ends up in piles in the laundry basket or on the floor in my room. I am good at getting the boys laundry back to their rooms - its mine and the "house" laundry (towels, washcloths, kitchen towels etc.) that never gets finished.

Since laundry is out of control here and I do several loads per day, I just dump everything in my bedroom and we have "put away" parties with the girls at the end of the day. I'm sick of laundry!!!!!

It depends on the day.

Clothes get hung up in the basement, til the next load that needs to get hung up. From there it goes onto my bedroom floor til I get it folded or hung in the closet. Some things need ironing, so that goes in my pile upstairs where the iron and ironing board is.

Other laundry, like towels, sheets, etc, get thrown into the dryer. Sheets either get folded or put back on the bed as soon as it comes out of the dryer. Towels, etc, get thrown into a basket til I get around to folding it...

I rarely fold laundry anymore because Lilly and Camy do it for me. Abby helps with washclothes and hand towels. Everyone puts their own clothes away. I help Abby put away her hanging clothes.

It doesn't always get folded as soon as it comes out of the dryer. I can fit two loads in a basket.

I only have one load a week, maybe two. I have to go to the laundry room at my complex. I hang the stuff as soon as I get it out of the dryer, I only fold pants and that's only two pairs a week and pjs. Bras, underwear and socks get thrown in their own drawer, easy.

I do about seven loads per weekend, my most unfavorite task. DH wears scrubs to work and I wear "business" clothes so if we're doing something in the evening it's two sets of clothes a day. Plus the hockey playing boy.

Friday night I sort it all into piles in our master bedroom closet. Then I take down the first load, which is always my work clothes (because Momma's no dummy and she's not going basket diving on Monday morning). Anyway, I wash the load, and either dry it & put it away Fri night or Sat AM (but it never goes into the dryer unless I'm here to take it out immediately).

The rest gets folded as soon as the dryer is done. Then DH & the kids put it away. Hopefully. In the right closet. By Wednesday. Maybe Thursday. Or Friday when I explain that I can't wash more until they empty out the baskets from LAST weekend.

No dryer here, so washing, hanging up and ironing - that's how it works for me.

Same here Susi.

We have an Aussie washer/drier all-in-one machine. But it is very costly and not eco-friendly to run the drier cycle, and it doesn't dry properly anyway. It only gets the worst out. I only use it on the mattress protector (we only have one and can't get another) and the towels for a quick blast 'cos DH likes them fluffy.

So I do the wash and hang stuff outside when it's dry, or downstairs in the box room with the dehumidifier on when it's wet. Once it's dry, it's ironed, then put away.

I have 7 laundry baskets and I separate my laundry to death. I hang most of my and Char's clothes, with the exception of socks and underwear. When I do a colored laundry or towels, I tend to let them pile up so I have a good excuse to watch TV when I fold them!! I am still doing something but I get to sneak in a show and don't feel guilty about it.
