My DH is not, he tends to get me appliances or tools, like electric can opener, toaster oven, snow blower, lawn mower, dishwasher. While they are all nice things, that I want/need, they are not very personal. One year I mentioned that I wanted a emerald ring, he did get me one, but it was huge & almost gaudy, and very pricey, not my taste at all, but it was the "emerald I wanted". When Cricut first came out, I told him REPEATEDLY that is what he could get me for Christmas, he got me a very expensive string of pearls, and while they were gorgeous, he knows I have my grandmother's pearls and rarely wear them, so why would he think I would wear a new string. A few years later he complained that I never wear his gifts  Now, I just buy what I want and tell him he got it for me, if I am patient, I will even wrap it up and open it on Christmas morning.
