I can't beleve BF is this coming week. I don't need any BF stuff for my own kids, but we "adopted" 54 kids from the children's shelter in our city at work. One other crazy co-worker and I hit the stores (she takes her DD, I take a friend) and we see what we can do. When we can get stuff for BF prices the money goes further. My department only has 20 people in it. Somehow we pull it off every year, so hopefully this year will be no different. Wish us luck! I've actually never had a bad experience on BF, hopefully that won't change, LOL!

Anyone else heading into the fracas?

Yup! Have done so most every year of my adult life. When my kids were little, we were always in Memphis for T-day. We had a tradition of all (most) going to a movie late Thanksgiving afternoon, then home for round #2 of the feast. Next morning, the guys would go hunting / hang out.... and the women all went shopping.

With family aging / moving / passing away, that trip went by the wayside. Maybe a dozen years ago (?) my ex and I started taking the kids to Indianapolis after Thanksgiving dinner. We'd check in to a hotel connected to the mall & go to a movie that evening. Rise and shine early on Friday & shop til we dropped. That one was always nice, as you could go back to the room & rest, leave your packages, whatever.....

Even after our divorce, the kids begged to continue that tradition & somehow, I always found a way to do it. Last year was the first year we didn't go. I went to Mark's families for the first time, and Britt & Jav were with his in Texas. Britt said she cried; to not be home, not doing our "usual" thing.

So this year she's hosting her first Thanksgiving dinner. We will eat too much, go downtown for the lighting of the tree..... then get up at the butt crack of dawn to go shopping! For me (as I've written above) it's not about purchasing things. It's an event. Has always been an awesome bonding time for our family. If I find some deals, great. But regardless of that, we always have fun!!

Never went BF shopping til the girls moved to Denver. We've been going to Denver every year for the past 5 (??) years, and, for some reason, decided to join the crowds on Friday. We don't get up super early, just whenever, and start shopping. We don't look for any kind of fantastic deals. It's just a fun time to do shopping and family bonding time!

Me me meeeeeeeeeee! We don't go out super early though. My roommate and I will roll out about 8 am, hit starbucks and go to our local Target. Then we'll meet another friend and her mom in Oakland and we'll shop the day away! We usually hit Sizzler for lunch and just have a fun girls day.

Yep, it's a tradition with the sisters and now that they're older, some nieces. No little kids go. I don't ever have anything I'm looking for and have lots already bought. I just go for eating lunch out and the adventure/being together since this is about the only time we all go out to shop. Nothing I "need" out there but if I find something OK, that way no pressure!

No way in heck will I go. I don't do well in large groups of people. I stay home all day that day. Its a good day for a big clean of the house before the tree goes up.

I'm actually considering going out now. I don't know because I'll be mad if I went through the trouble and they don't have any left. J's is having a 60% off cutting tools sale (actually, it's a 3 days sale) and if I can get another trimmer that I picked up I can return it with my receipt for the one I recently bought and save $12. There's also a good sale on flannel so I could pick up some of that at the same time.
My local one is small and they haven't had the cutter I got so that means a trip to the one that's about a half hour away.

What cutter? I bought two Fiskars ones lately and I'm not happy with either. The first one I don't like because the one side is curved, and it's hard to see some of the measurements on the flip-out arm: http://www.joann.com/fiskars-euro-paper-tr immer-12...

Soooo, I bought this one, thinking that I would like that the measurements go further before you need to use the flip out arm (it's wider), and it has the wire (which seemed like a great idea). What I do like is that I could attach a score blade and a cut blade and do projects by using one side of the trimmer guide or the other depending on what I was doing. HOWEVER, the doggone wire has broken (some of the strands). Now it's pretty much worthless because the blade won't move smoothly. I think I'm too far out to return it, so I guess I could call Fiskars. I really did like this one until the darn wire broke.

BTW, I usually make it to JoAnn's later in the morning on BF, and it's never been bad. Probably rough when they open, but a few hours later it's usually fine.

I'm just concerned whether or not there'll be stuff on the shelf, not the crowd. I can suck it up to save $24 (and spend on something else. )

I think someone else had a problem with the wire breaking.

The one I got is the new procision.
