Not unless you go to Canada. There's a company that holds rights and operates as a separate entity.

It's also possible the brands will be sold off to other companies and therefore still be made (or come back) at some point.
Nice though that a union pushed the company over the edge to shut down and layoff over 18K people. They were already having problems but that seems to be the straw. And from the sounds of it - the union wasn't that big. (ETA: well, the number of union members for this company)

Twinkies? Ho Hos? Ding Dongs? Have you any idea how this all sounds to us "foreigners"?
I have to ask - are they deliberate double entendres?

So sad. . . I don't get them much anymore, but it's the idea that I "can't" have one that stinks. Loved the little Hostess Lemon & Cherry pies, and I will miss those cupcakes! Bad thing was that they had at least 2 unions involved - Teamsters and Bakers. . . Teamsters had agreed, but the Bakers stuck it out. . . agree. . . way-to-go bakers. . . 8% pay cut or no job. . . duh. (Really?? the company was going through their second bankruptcy and those people couldn't see the writing on the wall??)

what is really sad is 18,500 people are now dependent on our government. Just like our president likes and his wife is happy because sweets are gone. (sorry if I stepped on any toes)

There are people already feeling the effect. There are distributors where today was there last day of work.
Someone said they also make the buns for Chick-fil-A and another one.
hahahaha.... funny.... I just decided the other day I was done buying Wonder bread (I was buying the whole white or smart bread) and going back to the really cheap white stuff cause I miss it.

We don't buy twinkies or any of that stuff. I feel sorry for the people losing their jobs. Proves that most unions are a hinderance and not needed. The sad thing is the union trying to get more money and benefits is just ridiculous if you consider that those people get paid at least 3-4 times more than any average worker out there.

well, I don't know about elsewhere but here if you work for the state, the union screws you for money either way. You either pay to be in it or you have to pay to opt out. WTF?

Funny though... the whole tipping debate with servers, wages, etc. Yet THEY haven't formed a union. I think they know it's to their benefit if they don't! They'd rather pi$$ and moan about bad tippers.

it's a shame that it came down to this, if only 5k were a part of the Union and 13k weren't apart of it; it's sad that the majority could not rule. And right before the holidays, is such a bad time. Poor families!

You will not hear me bash a union since mine looks out for me. If we didn't have it, we would be stepped on way more then we already are. Flame away.

The interesting/frustrating part of this story is that the company opened it's books to the Teamsters Union to prove it wasn't trying to pull anything over on the workers. Teamsters then made concessions to keep their members employed. The bakers union made a horrible decision for their members.
Unions can be a blessing....or a curse. It all depends on the leadership.

From what was said... they wouldn't even take a secret ballot vote to see what the members really wanted to do.
